Wendell Amisimak Stalker took notice and wrote down his memories in a new book series he recently published. Inspired by his own upbringing on the northwest coast of Alaska, Stalker shares that his childhood is where it all began. “I remember as a young boy when a lot of other children went out to go play and they invited me and I would say ‘no I’m going to listen to the old stories.’ ‘Oh c’mon, the elders will still be there tomorrow’ But they’re not here anymore.”
